Ubisoft is a well-known and recognized name in the video game industry. To make a strong entry into this field, the business just released Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR. Will this tactic continue? In today’s article, we will discuss this.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR

During an audio Q&A session with shareholders for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024, users noticed an interesting topic being raised. One of the callers spoke about the importance of new virtual reality formats such as Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro, as well as Ubisoft’s plans to invest in them.

Yves Guillemot, CEO and co-founder of Ubisoft said that the company intends to devote only a little bit of time to this topic. The primary reason for this strategy is the dismal sales of Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR. He also stated that the game’s sales are relatively respectable, with more units sold daily. However, more than that amount is needed to entice the corporation to invest more.

On the other side, Mr. Guillemot is very impressed by Apple’s mixed reality headset. He claims that while this headset has outstanding hardware, it makes little difference to Ubisoft’s situation. As previously said, while this French corporation continues to explore the virtual reality industry, it does not intend to bet much on it.

Ubisoft’s Strategic Shift

Not only Ubisoft but also major gaming firms, are becoming interested in virtual reality as the sector matures. Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR was released on Meta Quest in late 2023. Gamers in this game can adventure through the eyes of Ezio, Cassandra, and Connor, three famous characters from Assassin’s Creed.

Parkour, cultural features of various historical periods, wonders and hidden secrets, and a complex stealth system are among the main features of this game. However, these features do not appear to have the potential to push the boundaries of the virtual reality game industry!

In 2022, nearly a year before the release of this version, Ubisoft canceled the game Splinter Cell VR. This game was developed by Ubisoft’s Red Storm studio, which was supposed to focus solely on Quest products. Now it’s your turn to share your thoughts with us and discuss your interest in virtual reality.
