Cloud gaming allows all users to enjoy console games without purchasing advanced and expensive consoles or hardware. Keep reading Arium as we review the emergence of cloud gaming and the pros and cons of this technology in 2023.

The Emergence of Cloud Gaming

Game Cluster initially announced Cloud gaming technology at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2000, and it was later released in 2003. Despite the promises, cloud gaming did not take off in the first decade of the 2000s due to a lack of reliable infrastructure. As a result, cloud gaming became popular only after Microsoft, Sony, and Google entered the market, and Amazon followed suit.

What was the original goal of cloud gaming?

The goal of cloud gaming was to set the ground for everyone to gain access to AAA games without needing extra expensive hardware so that no other gamers would have to buy expensive hardware to remain updated in the gaming industry. Imagine playing Xbox games on your Android phone after they are released! Yes, you read that accurately. This fantasy is now a reality thanks to Xbox Cloud gaming!

How Does Cloud Gaming Work and What Are Its Pros and Cons?

You can play games remotely via cloud gaming. The games are hosted on remote servers and are streamed to your device. All this processing power depends on a virtual server. However, your gadget should be able to supply the necessary internet bandwidth. This is an excellent way to eliminate downloading and installing games while saving money because you don’t need to buy pricey powerful gear.

One of the drawbacks of cloud game streaming from a virtual server is the possibility of significant latency and a decrease in frame rate. When you press a button, you may experience some lag in the desired action. This delay is bad news for games that require quick reactions. As a result, not all games work effectively with cloud gaming. However, all these issues will be remedied with technological advancements.

Another point is that cloud gaming is significantly reliant on the internet. So, if your internet goes down or your speed suddenly drops, your cloud gaming experience will be affected. Because only some have access to a consistent internet connection, not everyone will have a positive experience with cloud gaming. However, the growing availability of high-speed and 5G internet is a viable solution to this problem.

Streaming Cloud Games on Android Is Awesome!

Mobile gaming imposes several unwelcome constraints on us, such as limited storage space or lack of AAA titles on this platform! For most users, storage space is of high importance. Assume you require 1 Terabyte of storage space on your PC to save and run your games. However, this is not feasible on tablets and Android phones. That is why we should be grateful that cloud gaming allows us to play games without using too much space on our phones. You only need a good internet connection and shouldn’t care about your smartphone specs. That’s all!
