Metaverse is not a new concept for gamers. After attending Fortnite concerts and making deals in Decentraland, we are somehow accustomed to this world. But what are the potentials, and what can we expect more from this world?

What is metaverse exactly?

If you still wonder what metaverse is and what it does, it is an alternative virtual world. This online space allows you to interact with others in an immersive way. You can travel, play games and even attend concerts and football matches here. Either in virtual reality with a VR headset or by creating your avatar to interact with others, like a video game character. We can say the metaverse is post-internet era technology. Also, reports predict that by 2030, the metaverse economy will be worth between 8$ and 13$ trillion dollars.

Metaverse uses blockchain technology, so you will buy anything you want with cryptocurrencies

Metaverse and blockchain technology

Interacting in this new world has its requirements as well. You can own things in the metaverse. For example, you can buy land and build a virtual building. Metaverse uses blockchain technology, so you will buy anything you want with cryptocurrencies. Right now, many famous brands, from Nike to GUCCI have stores here. Keep in mind there is not one metaverse. There could be many worlds and metaverses that you can experience. Each metaverse will have a different currency as well. For example, the currency used in Decentraland is MANA. There are many places right now that sell virtual currencies. Making money will be much easier in the metaverse.

A concept not unfamiliar in gaming

Before all the buzz about the metaverse conquering the world, the gaming industry was familiar with the concept. Whether you play multi-player or deeply immersive games, the metaverse is nothing new here. Many computer games and web-based platforms have shown metaverse to gamers. Minecraft is a virtual world where you can interact with other gamers. Also, in Decentraland, you can create a world, explore and make trades. Similar to Decentraland, in Sandbox, you go to Snoop Dogs concerts or shop from Adidas. This decentralized world, based on blockchain, lets you build your world the way you like it.

With the help of the metaverse, video games will be more social and immersive

The future of metaverse and video games?

With the increase of gamers, the gaming industry has been paving the path for the metaverse through the years. Data shows that the global Esports audience will surpass 700 million viewers by 2025. So, when Esports and Metaverse join, there will be a game-changing experience in the tech world. With the help of the metaverse, video games will be more social and immersive. In an idealized metaverse gaming world, you can bring an item of one game into another. Imagine taking your magic spell from Elden Ring into Sekiro! Then different tech and gaming companies will join each other in a decentralized world! You can make friends from all over the world, create your avatar and play tennis with them by using VR headsets.

In collaboration with the metaverse and gaming industry, gamers will be more powerful. Gaming will be a part of daily life everywhere, on the street or in the middle of the jungle. NFT a universal currency will let everyone enjoy shopping from all over the world. You can be a Meta-human, you will create the being you want, the community you want, and of course, the world you want to live in.

In collaboration with the metaverse and gaming industry, gamers will be more powerful

Using VR headsets not only makes the games more realistic but makes you closer to your friends who are playing with you. Nvidia mentions that its opportunities lie with the metaverse. In 2019 Nvidia introduced its Omniverse platform and launched a beta version in 2021, which is considered a foundation for the metaverse. In brief, Omniverse enables 3D simulation and design collaboration.

At last, the metaverse can attract older generations to gaming as well. There may be difficult for the elderly to play with controllers on a computer or tv. But through metaverse, modern gaming styles will appear, and even grandpas can play chess (as a board game) in a simulated world with the avatar of their grandchildren in another country.
